Appleyard Media Ltd has been asked to provide PR for the World's Highland Games. The Cowal Gathering hosts the Highland Dancing world championship and has over 100 pipe bands competing. Based at Dunoon, in Argyll, the Gathering runs from Aug 28-Aug 30, 2008.

Appleyard Media Ltd has been working with the charity, SafeHands for Mothers, on a film documentary about child marriage in Ethiopia. In an amazing two weeks travelling around the Amhara region, we filmed a 10 year old's wedding and investigated the consequences of early marriage. The trip was featured on Sky News and was covered in The Times (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/africa/article3948867.ece). The documentary is still being worked on and will be broadcast later in the year.

Ross Appleyard has been in Iraq to make films marking the fifth anniversary of the Iraq War. The films, depicting the lives of British soldiers in Basrah, were shown on a number of regional ITV stations across the UK.

Jo Moulds has been working on the promotion of an International Conference organised by C-SCAIPE and the Steering Group for Sustainability (SGS) at Kingston University. "Sustainability in Practice: From Local to Global" is media partnered with The Ecologist and Forum for the Future and is expecting over 120 delegates from the UK and internationally. www.kingston.ac.uk/sustainability

Appleyard Media Ltd has started working with Severnprint, one of the UK's most environmentally-conscious printers. They were one of the first five printers in the UK to gain Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification in 2003 and one of the first printers to gain the international environmental management system standard ISO14001. Appleyard Media will be assisting with internal and external communications.

Appleyard Media Ltd has been filming with Berry Bros & Rudd, specialist wine merchants and suppliers of fine wines since 1698. The film will be used by Berry Bros. for promoting their wine services on their website, for training purposes and for corporate company information and background.

Appleyard Media has become one of the first signatories to the new Mayor's Green Procurement Code through London Remade. The company has signed up to level B1 which means that the company has committed itself to being an environmentally progressive organisation moving towards measurable change. The Mayor's Green Procurement Code is a programme that aims to generate increased demand for products manufactured from recycled materials and to grow recycling capacity in London, and the rest of the UK. This is something which Appleyard Media very much supports.

Jo Moulds has been working at this year's Ecobuild at Earls Court II, London, on behalf of Building for a future magazine and the Green Building Press. Over 12,000 visitors approx over three days attended lectures, seminars and the exhibition.

Ross Appleyard has been filming a project sponsored by Forestry Commission Scotland with the aim of encouraging more tourists to one of the most historic parts of Scotland - mid-Argyll. The Dalriada film will be available to view on the website soon.
Ross is also about to embark on a trip to Sri Lanka with Irish charity, GOAL, in April 2007, to report on aid work in the aftermath of the tsunami of 2004.
For both of the above films, Appleyard Media is pleased to be working with one of Britain's top camera operators, John Howarth, who was Head of Cameras on the BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs series.

Appleyard Media has begun working on the PR for a restaurant launch for Bang! in Mayfair, London. A press & VIP event is to be held on April 11th.
Ross Appleyard has once again been filming for Irish charity, GOAL, in Calcutta, India. The film resulted in a documentary-style news piece shown on Sky News in March.
Jo Moulds has been working on a new website for the London recycling and waste management company, Bywaters. The new site is due for launch in July 2006.

Ross Appleyard has begun working with Irish charity, GOAL, to help raise the organisation's profile in the UK. A trip to the Sudan in December 2005 led to news features about GOAL's work on Sky News, ITV Central News, BBC North West Tonight and Ulster Television in Belfast. Ross visited the Jebel Marra, a region of West Darfur, that few journalists have ever been. The piece has been syndicated worldwide through Associated Press Television News through Sky News and through ENEX (European News Exchange).

Jo Moulds has started working with WestFocus Sustainability in Practice (SiP) Network with Kingston University. The WestFocus Network comprises seven universities focused on bringing together higher education, the local community and businesses in South and West London and the Thames Valley under the broad umbrella of sustainability.
Over Dec 2005, Jo Moulds also worked on raising the profile of the North London Recycling Forum (NLRF) with Environmental Alliances. Penney Poyzer, star of the BBC2 No Waste Like Home programme, was guest speaker at the event.

Appleyard Media Ltd has completed a film for Tesco Stores Ltd for an animal welfare initiative around beef farming. The film followed a day at the Food Animal Initiative, Oxfordshire, where 200 UK beef farmers were invited to network and discuss the future of British beef farming and welfare by Tesco Stores Ltd. Tesco will be using the film to highlight their relationship as a main sponsor of the Food Animal Initiative, one of the UK's most pioneering working farms looking at ethical animal husbandry.
